from Booking Through Thursday:
Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?
Well, the answer is no. I don\’t read author blogs. It\’s hard enough to find time to keep up with my regular reading and the book blogs, I honestly can\’t squeeze another thing in. Occasionally I\’ll look up an author to answer a question I have about the background of their book, but this is more likely to be a wiki article or another blogger\’s interview with them. And I usually just visit once, not repeatedly. I did have Nick Hornby\’s blog on my reader for a while, but it got tiresome. I feel terrible saying that, because I love his bookish books, but the blog just wasn\’t doing it for me. And you can\’t leave comments there, so what\’s the fun in that? (Although if that option was open, I\’d probably feel too intimidated to do so!)
I know some of the book bloggers I read are also writers, but somehow that feels different to me. They feel like my blogging friends, not a stranger I\’m trying to scope out some information on. What about you? Do you read author\’s blogs?

I usually only seek out an author blog if I want to find out about past work or upcoming releases. Sometimes they share writing tips which I find intersting, but basically I don\’t have a list that I visit regularly. After reading some people\’s answer to this, though, it makes me want to look for more. However, like you, it\’s hard enough keeping up with my reading and the reader blogs I visit.
Like you, I tried and found it tedious. I pretty much stick to my blogroll buddies. Thanks for sharing. Happy BTT.
So far I only read Neil Gaiman\’s blog. I never thought of finding out if Nick Hornby had one, though – now I\’m interested in reading it!
I\’m not a regular visitor to author blogs but I pop in once in awhile.
I agree with you on the Hornby. I wanted to like it, but it didn\’t satisfy even though it certainly wasn\’t the generic author\’s blog at all.
It depends. Mostly I don\’t.Authored, are we?!
I know what you mean about having only so much time!
I do like to read them, but I don\’t seek out many because of the time factor. I also have more blogs to read than I should.
Yeah, I\’m the same as everyone else. Who has the time to visit those self-promoting sites?
Totally random Jeane, but I was on Facebook just now and noticed your friends with my cousin Rebecca Hope Holstrom! Do you know each other from school??
We were freshman roommates in college. I haven\’t seen her in about ten years, but she just recently found me on facebook, too.
Hey, I can leave comments easily again. Yay!I don\’t visit author blogs either. Like you it\’s a question of time. I\’m busy reading them in type and paper; I save my cyberspace reading for others.
I do like to read author blogs when they speak freely about dsasterous readings or fights with agents or wonderful questions from readers. I think it\’s fun to see how they overcome challenges and doesn\’t misery love company anyway?Kathleen Molloy, author – Dining with Death
