This one was fun, cute, and so much easier to do than Peacock! Bright colors, lots of varied texture and different objects throughout the picture. It felt like things just kept falling into place effortlessly, piece after piece. Straight ribbon cut, average piece variety plus some “zig-zag” ones (so I don’t feel like I can really call it a random cut- it just has that one variety in addition to the usual shapes). Nice sturdy pieces, minimal glare, no finger pain. It was pleasant and enjoyable.
The picture kinda makes me laugh, though. I would never let kittens roam my puzzle table with a frosted cake slice (smeary) and glass of wine (easily spillable)! Of course, you have to imagine that the puzzler herself is standing just outside the picture frame observing, but I dunno- it’s hard enough to keep my one adult cat from knocking stuff over, stealing puzzle pieces (see the grey kitten as example) or trying to eat my food. Three playful kittens! So there’s that, but also all the puzzle references make me smile. This imagined person obviously is into any kind of puzzle. There’s a crossword book,
a frame that looks like one of those sliding tile puzzles,
several metal puzzles (in fact, this one I’ve done myself here– it’s the last puzzle in the first picture)
and this box up in the corner is another puzzle from this same series!
In addition to all that, the puzzle on the surface the kittens are walking on, is yet another puzzle by this same artist, which I also happen to have (though by a different maker) and I’m doing it next! It was kind of a scramble to look at, the in and out of piece edges within the pieces you’re actually doing, can make the eyes swim. I had to kind of blur my vision sometimes and look at it more generally. That part was the most tricky.
I’m baffled by this one object in the picture, though. What is it? My husband suggested a chess piece, but it’s huge- as tall as one of the kittens.
Final size 18 x 24″.
A note on the assembly: after putting together the edge, I gathered some pieces by color/type and did more puzzling in bed on my lap again. Added those parts to the frame the next morning and then did the yellow bits. So that’s why the big jump in progress from picture one to two.
